So you want a recipe...

For as long as I've been cooking and sharing my successes (and failures) on Instagram, people have asked me to share my recipes. I have always put this off, and for a number of reasons. To start I never use recipes, I go in with a plan and change my mind halfway through. The kitchen is too haphazard for photos along the way, I get oil all over my phone, I'm too hungry to take notes. These are all true. My greatest fear however, was that I knew that my recipes would never look as glamorous as all the recipe blogs that inspire me. This held me back for a long time, but I'm starting to accept the fact that I am just not that person with the perfectly folded tea towel and perfectly scattered extra ingredients on the side of my perfectly plated dish. I love this person, but she is not me. And I'm okay with that (now).

Despite me explaining all of this, people still ask me to share my recipes. So I figure let's try.

The recipes I share here might be more of what I call 'skeleton' recipes, meaning general ideas and my best guesses at actual amounts. But I'll do my best for you.

There's one more thing you should know. I'm a dietitian, I love what I do, and I believe that the foods we eat can absolutely impact our health and well being. But I'm not getting into that here, not now anyways. If you have specific food concerns, allergies, or general health challenges that you are working with, call me and we'll talk specifics for you. Here, we're talking more than nutrients, we're talking food, and I'd argue that's even more important (ya, I said it). So before you ask, I will not share nutritional facts of the recipes.

All this to say, I'm a little nervous about this, but I'm looking forward to bringing you into my kitchen (and my mind a little bit). At very least, I hope you will find some amusement and inspiration here. Happy cooking!
